1. Who was the author of this letter (1)? What do you know about his situation (4:3,18)? Who were the recipients of this letter (2)? How did he address and greet them? Who found the church in Colosse and what was the relationship between the author and the recipients (1:7-8; 4:12)?
2. Read verses 3-6a. What are the three virtues Paul was thankful for? How are they interrelated? Why are they the essential in Christian life? How could they bear these fruits (6b-8)? And how can we?
3. Read verse 9. What was Paul’s prayer topic for the believers? Why is knowing the will of God so important (cf. Php 1:9-10)?
4. Read verses 10-12a. What was the purpose of his prayer (10a)? In what ways can we please God (10b-12a)?
5. Read verses 12b-14. What privileges has God given us (12b)? How has God qualified us (13a)? From where were we rescued and to where were we brought?
